Bhawanipatna: There seems to be no end to the farmer suicide cases in the state. A fresh case of farmer suicide was reported at Golamunda area in Dharamgarh in Kalahandi district on Wednesday.
The deceased farmer has been identified as Purnachandra Bhoi.
Let down by crop loss and loan burden, Bhoi took the extreme step by consuming pesticide. He was rushed to Dharamgarh hospital where he died today while undergoing treatment, sources said.
“He had taken loans from local money lenders and faced huge crop loss for the last two consecutive years. Finding no other option to repay the loan, he consumed pesticides,” family members alleged.
