Another aide of D-brothers arrested

Cuttack: Tightening its noose around gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhalasamanta, the Chauliaganj police on Saturday arrested one of their aides from Kalyani Nagar area here.

Police said, Nibas Behera alias Mantu was nabbed from his house in Kalyani Nagar area this morning. Mantu has more than a dozen criminal records in various police stations, sources said.

Police suspect Behera was a close associate of the gangster brothers and was involved in several crime, including murder and extortion.

With Saturday’s arrest, the number of persons held so far in connection with D-brothers has risen to 27.

In a related development, the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here on Friday allowed the Commissionerate police to shift the arrested Dhalasamant brothers out of Choudwar jail where the criminal siblings are lodged at present.

While the court asked the police to take elder brother Sushant Dhalasamant to Jharpada jail in Bhubaneswar, it ordered to shift younger brother Sushil to Balasore jail.

On March 1, the police had appealed to the court to shift the duo from the Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack to other jails in the State on security grounds.
