Ambulance ransacked after road mishap in Baripada

Baripada: Tension ran high after a youth died in a road accident near Raghunathpur in Baripada on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Subham Poddar (19).

Following the incident, locals staged a demonstration and later ransacked an ambulance for arriving late to the accident spot.

According to reports, Subham was travelling with his mother Kanika Poddar on a Scooty when a truck coming from opposite side hit them at around 11 am today.

Sources said both Subham and his mother were on their way to attend a function when the mishap occurred.

Locals alleged that they had called the ambulance to rush the injured woman. But as the vehicle took long to reach the spot, locals got aggrieved and tried to ransack the ambulance, police said.

Senior officials informed that the injured woman has been admitted to the hospital while the truck driver has been detained in connection with the incident.
