Surat: It may sound like a script from a Bollywood movie but a 14-year-old in Surat planned his own kidnapping to escape scolding by parents for not studying.
According to reports, two class IX students including one from Odisha staying at Kailash Nagar plotted their own abduction.
Mahesh (name changed) was reportedly fed up as his parents were continuously pressurizing him for studies. In a bid to teach parents a lesson, Mahesh with one of his friends from Uttar Pradesh reportedly went missing on November 10 evening, police said.
Moreover, the duo even made ransom calls to their respective families and demanded Rs 50,000.
Joint Police Commissioner, DB Baghela informed both the children claimed that their parents used to scold and pressurize them for studies.
“We got a call that my son has been kidnapped and they demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000,” said father of Odia boy Mahesh.
Senior officials of Sachin police station then swung into action after the families of both the boys lodged a complaint in this connection.
“As both the calls were made from a common number, it became easier for tracking and busting the truth behind the alleged kidnappings,” Baghela added.
