Cuttack: Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) on Thursday dropped Anurag Kanojia, a U-19 player, for alleged discrepancies in the documents submitted by him as proof of age.
The officials of the association confirmed that the decision to drop Kanojia was taken after a deviation was found in the date of birth in the certificates and documents submitted by the U-19 cricketer.
Moreover, Kanojia had also allegedly submitted a false affidavit regarding his age.
This has come as an embarrassment for OCA as earlier over 30 players were found fudging their proof of age documents and certificates in 2016.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had even dropped seven women cricketers after finding discrepancies in their respective proof of age certificates.

Cricketers—Pragyan Paramita Mohanty, Sushree Dibyadarshini, D. Janaki Reddy, Sasmita Mahalik, Banalata Malick, Saojini Giri and Shilpa Swain were debarred from playing matches in 2016-17 season.
BCCI had also issued show-cause notices to four senior players (boys)—Alok Sahu, Rajesh Dhupar, Asutosh Das and Subham Nayak in connection with age fudging controversy.
Following the controversy, OCA had also formed a committee to ensure transparency in selection of players particularly in the junior category.
