Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of Matric Examination question papers going viral on social media and subsequent order of a Crime Branch probe into the matter, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) today issued a directive tightening norms on entry of mobile phones into the centres during the Plus-II examinations scheduled to begin from March 6.
“No students, invigilators, members of squads should carry mobiles into the examination centres. If necessary, the Centre superintendant may create a cloakroom for the members of the staff only,” a notification of the board read.
The directive also stated that no official or teacher should be in possession of mobiles when the question paper packets are being opened.
“However, only the Centre superintendant can have a mobile phone to remain in contact with the authorities,” the notification added.
The board has also asked the centre superintendents to ensure all precautionary measures are taken so that question papers do not leave the centres during the examination hours and prevent any gathering of crowd around the exam centres.
Earlier the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) had also issued a similar directive seeking stricter enforcement of mobile phone ban.
It is to be noted that after MIL-Odia, the question paper of English subject of the ongoing Annual HSC Examination was circulated on social media. Later, the State government ordered a Crime Branch probe into the matter.
