Cuttack: Problems seem to be far from over for this acid attack survivor from Berhampur, who is constantly getting threats from her tormentor, who happens to be her husband. Sources informed that it is affecting the treatment of the survivor at SCB Medical College and Hospital as she is spending days in anxiety and stress.
What is shocking is the fact that the accused husband is still roaming 'free' despite cases of dowry torture and acid attack registered against him.
The survivor was a third year student of Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) at MKCG Medical College in Berhampur when her husband threw acid on her last November.
"I have been constantly receiving phone calls and messages from my husband who is threatening to kill me and my family," said the survivor.
Family members of the girl have accused police officials of shielding the accused who is yet to be put behind bars for the crime.
"The entire family is tensed. How can an accused send SMS and how police is not able to track him," said the survivor's brother.
Head of plastic surgery department, Arun Choudhry informed that the girl had sustained 15 percent deep acid burns on face, hands and other parts of the body.
"As her left eye was also badly affected, two surgeries have been conducted by experts at LV Prasad Eye Hospital. It will be take another 4 to 6 weeks for the patient to recover," said Choudhry.
