AAP Protest: IHSDP beneficiaries gherao Bolangir Municipality

Bolangir: Around a hundred beneficiaries of the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP) gheraoed the Bolangir Municipality office protesting financial irregularity in the scheme.

The activists, including women, under the banner of the Aam Admi Party (AAP), gheraoed the Municipality office and demanded immediate provision of pending financial assistance. They alleged that the beneficiaries under the IHSDP, which is meant to provide houses with basic infrastructure facilities to slum dwellers living in small and medium towns, have not been given the full amount of the financial assistance.

“As many as 52 BPL families of Harijanpada at Salepali under Ward-18 had been given work order long back in 2008. However, the beneficiaries are yet to get the full amount,” said an agitating activist.

The Prime Minister had launched the scheme on December 3, 2005 and it was implemented in Bolangir in 2007-08.
