Rourkela: In an inhuman act, an eight-month old boy was branded with hot iron by way of treatment for an ailment at Renjeda village under K. Balang police limits here.
According to reports, the baby boy, identified as Pritam Singh, son of Bisikesan Singh, was suffering from pneumonia. The baby was branded with hot iron at eight to 10 places on his body to cure him, the sources added.
After iron branding, the health condition of the baby deteriorated and he was rushed to a hospital here. Hospital authorities informed the local police about the incident, the sources informed.
Meanwhile, police has rushed to the spot and started investigation into the matter.
Notably in March, a baby died at Rupatola slum in the Steel City after undergoing iron branding treatment.
