Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday formed a six-member committee consisting of three ministers and three bureaucrats to judge the best practices adopted by collectors in their respective districts.
Inaugurating the two-day district collectors' conference at state secretariat here this morning, the CM asked collectors to take all possible steps for the development of their districts.
According to sources, Excise minister Damodar Rout, Women and Child Development minister Usha Devi, School and Mass Education department minister Debi Mishra, Development commissioner R Balakrishnan, Energy secretary Suresh Mohapatra and Health secretary Aarti Ahuja will be members of the committee.
The committee will judge the practices adopted by the collectors in their districts and select the top three best practices, which will be rewarded at the valedictory session of the collectors’ conference, the sources added.
Addressing collectors, the CM said, “As the head of the administration at the district level, you play a critical role in the development process. You are the cutting edge of our service delivery system. Your leadership at the district level can significantly improve the performance.”
“I want that all of you should work hard with all sincerity and commitment so that the benefits of all our development and welfare schemes reach the intended beneficiaries till the last mile. My government will support you in all your pro-people initiatives,” Patnaik said.
“In this collectors’ conference, we will address various issues pertaining to development and welfare schemes. I want all of you to open up and talk fearlessly about the various problems of your districts so that we can discuss and come out with the definite solutions,” the CM stated.
