6 held in Bhubaneswar for kidnapping engineering student

Bhubaneswar: Six persons including two engineering students have been arrested by the Commissionerate Police today on charges of kidnapping a student of a city-based private engineering college.

The accused, who were in a car, abducted engineering student Anuj Jha from Jagamara area in Khandagiri yesterday. However, they were nabbed by a team of the Commissionerate Police near Phulnakhara while coming towards the city late last night.

In his complaint at the Khandagiri police station, Anuj's elder brother stated that a ransom of Rs 10 lakh was demanded by the miscreants to release Anuj.

The accused have been identified as Dev Arpit Mishra, Priya Ranjan Mallik, Jyoti Prakash Mohanty, Chandan Dakua, Girish Naidu and Abhimanyu Das.
