Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today awarded gallantry medals to 16 police personnel for their exemplary services on the occasion of Independence Day.

Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra and CRPF second Commandant Santosh Kumar Malla were among the officers awarded for their gallantry at the state level function here today.

Besides, three IPS officers, OHRC additional DG Manoj Chhabra, additional DG in the Personnel department Debashish Panigrahi and Home Department Special Secretary Lalit Das were given medals for their distinguished services.

The Chief Minister also handed over medals to 22 police officers for their meritorious services at the function.

IG Southern range Amitabh Thakur, DIG Northern range Pratik Mohanty. DIG North-Central Jatindra Koel, Khurda SP Manoranjan Mohanty and Bargarh DSP Jasobanta Senapati were among the officers who received the medals for meritorious services.

Commenting on the achievement, the Malkangiri SP said, “The team is happy and will be encouraged to work better.”

“The award boosts our morale and we will plan out how better services we can provide in coming days,” Amitabh Thakur said.
