All universities, 3 medical colleges in state to become green campuses

Bhubaneswar: The State government on Tuesday decided to set up solar energy projects on rooftops of all university buildings and three medical colleges of Odisha.

After a review meeting of the Science and Technology department chaired by Chief Minister at the Secretariat here, minister Pradip Panigrahi said, “The government has decided to make campuses green through use of renewable energy.”

Among other decisions taken at the meeting was the formation of a State Council for Science and Technology to improve skill development," the minister said.

A science centre will be made functional at Bargarh by February. Similarly, the Burla planetarium will be completed by October whereas mobile planetariums will be launched soon, the minister added.

The meeting also decided to connect 216 schools of the State through the EDUSAT programme.
