12-hr bandh demanding sub-division status to Barpali

Bargarh: Normal life has been affected in Barpali block in the district today due to a 12-hour bandh called by the Barpali Bar Association demanding 'sub-division' status to the town.

Schools, colleges, markets and government offices remain closed due to the bandh. Besides, vehicles have been off the roads in view of the bandh since 6 am today.

As per reports, the sub-division status to Barpali is a long-standing demand for the town.

Political parties and all other organizations along with locals have extended their support to the bandh to make it a success.

"If the government will not listen to our demand, we will intensify our agitation," said a local.
