12-hr bandh demanding district status to Gunupur

Rayagada: Normal life was affected today in Gudari area here in the district due to a 12-hour bandh called by members of Akhil Bharat Janamancha, Vansadhara Krusaka Sangharsa Samiti and Akhil Bharat Krusaka Mahasabha over a charter of demands.

The demands include accordance of district status to Gunupur and construction of a project at Panidangar area.

“We resorted to the bandh demanding setting up of project in Vansadhara River, pucca road connectivity in our area, district status for Gunupur, employment of women in medical sector in our area and developmental works in notified area councils,” said Rayagada District Secretary, CPI-M-L, Tirupati Gamang.

Meanwhile, local shops in the area remained closed due to the bandh and vehicular movement was also affected.
