1 killed, 23 houses gutted in separate fire mishaps

Keonjhar/Bargarh: One person was killed and as many as 23 houses were reduced to ashes in two separate fire mishaps in Keonjhar and Bargarh districts today.

According to sources, a person was burnt to death when three houses at Station Road in Barbil of Keonjhar district caught fire this morning. The deceased is yet to be identified. Besides, several properties were destroyed in the fire that left the houses completely damaged. A fire brigade team rushed to the spot and doused the flames; however, the reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, the Barbil Tehsildar and BDO visited the spot and took stock of the situation. Police are investigating into the incident.

In a similar incident, 20 houses were reduced to ashes after a fire broke out at Beherapali village under Ambabhona block in Bargarh district. Fire fighters were pressed into service to douse the fire.
