Bhubaneswar: With only two phases of the polls 2019 remaining, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today claimed that the party is winning big in Odisha and West Bengal.
And the diatribe of West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on PM Narendra Modi shows how much she was 'panicked' of losing the ground in West Bengal.
"BJP is not only retaining its seat tally of 2014 but also gaining in a significant way in Odisha and West Bengal. As Modi wave sweeps the nation, analysts term it as astonishing. Even after a 5-year rule, it's phenomenal to witness such a huge acceptance level of a sitting PM where 70 per cent people rate Modi as the best PM," said BJP National Vice President and spokesperson Baijayant Panda.
BJP's spectacular show in West Bengal Lok Sabha polls has frightened CM Mamata Banerjee. Her abusive outbursts brings to fore her frustration, said Panda.
Earlier in the day, WB CM Mamata Banerjee made an uncharitable remark on PM Modi. Addressing a rally, Mamata likened Modi to Raavan and Duryodhana. She also said, "When Modi comes to Bengal and says that I am a top extortionist, I wish to slap him hard. A slap of this democracy is what he needs."
Reacting sharply to Mamata's tirade, BJP spokespersons Baijayant Panda and Anil Baluni condemned the remarks at a press conference in New Delhi.
"Who is Duryodhana, Who is Arjuna? May 23 will deliver the answer," said Baluni.
