BJP seeks Minister Maharathy’s scalp over objectionable remarks against women

Bhubaneswar: BJP Mahila Morcha stepped up its attack against Odisha government by training guns on Agriculture Minister Pradeep Maharathy for allegedly making derogatory remarks against women.

The development came after a video purportedly showing Maharathy making some objectionable comments went viral on social media.

Though it is still unclear against whom such comments were made, BJP Mahila Morcha president, Prabhati Parida demanded Maharathy’s resignation.

“How Pradeep Maharathy counted that every woman has two husbands? Such irresponsible and objectionable remarks against women are totally shameful,” said Parida.

Parida further threatened to intensify agitation against Odisha Chief Minister, if Maharathy is not removed from the cabinet.

The Minister was not available for comments on the matter.
