Bhubaneswar: The women wing of Odisha BJP on Saturday lashed out at the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) over rising crimes against women and girls ahead of the women convention of the regional party.
Coming down heavily on the BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, BJP Mahila Morcha president Smruti Patnaik posed five questions before him and sought answers at the earliest.
Smruti said that BJD is going to organize its mega women convention in order to grab the woman vote bank.
"Should the Chief Minister answer on how many mothers have lost their children due to diminishing law and order situation in the State? How many minor girls have fallen prey to sexual harassment in the State? How many women allowed their sons and other relatives to go outside the State as migrant labourers? Smruti asked while seeking replies from the CM at his party meeting.
She further said that the BJD claimed to have set up around 5 lakh Self Help Groups (SHGs) in Odisha. "Can the CM clarify whether these groups have been set up with common women who have no links with any party or politics," Smruti said.
The BJD should also give an account that how many mothers died after being separated from their son during Coronavirus pandemic.
She warned the government of a massive State-wide protest if the ruling party fails to give satisfactory answers.
