Bhubaneswar: With the youth wing of BJP set to lock down all employment exchanges in the state on November 5 protesting a rise in youth unemployment, the ruling-BJD today announced that it will launch protests in front of all central government offices during that time to counter the saffron party.
BJD General Secretary Sanjay Das Burma today informed that the Biju Yuva Janata Dal (BYJD), the youth wing of the ruling party and its students' outfit Biju Chhatra Janata Dal will stage protests in front of central government offices on November 5, 6 and 8.
"The Centre had promised to create 2 crore jobs every year in its election manifesto. But job opportunities were lost due to demonetization," Das Burma said.
"The central government has also failed to come up with an industrial corridor in Odisha in the past four-and-a-half years," he added.
We demand the central government to provide employment opportunities to the youths of our state, Das Burma said.
However, the BJP has questioned that if the state government wants the Centre to create employment opportunities for youths of Odisha, then why should the BJD stay in power?
Odisha BJP General Secretary, Bhrugu Buxipatra alleged that the BJD knows how to turn a positive movement into a negative one and take credit for that.
"The state government has not a single positive agenda for the development of the state besides creating goons in the name of Biju Yuva Vahini. Now their party is accusing us of not creating jobs which is a shame," Buxipatra said.
Similarly, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said "Odisha government is coming up with new excuses to cover-up its inefficiencies. It is also the State government's responsibility to provide employment. Central investments in Odisha are being jeopardised."
