Bargarh: A day after nine zilla parishad members from Bargarh resigned from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), party's Lok Sabha candidate Suresh Pujari levelled serious allegations against ruling-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) for bribing, threatening and kidnapping the members.

Addressing a presser on Saturday, Pujari alleged that," The zilla parishad members were bribed and threatened to resign. BJD leader and labour minister Sushant Singh is behind such acts. We are exploring legal options and will lodge FIR against the ruling party's minister and others if the abducted members do not return. "

BJD minister Sushant Singh, on the other hand, stated that nine BJP members claimed that they were unhappy over the state of affairs in the party following resignation of Subhash Chouhan.

"The BJP members wanted to join BJD after resigning from BJP. The saffron party is making baseless allegations," said Singh.

It is pertinent to mention here that BJP had won 25 out of 34 Zilla Parishads seats in the district during rural polls in 2017. After nine members of BJP resigned, the party's seat count has come down to 16. This has now provided an opportunity to the BJD in forming the Parishad.
