Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJD accusing the party of failing miserably in fulfilling its promises made in its 2014 manifesto.
BJP spokesperson Samir Mohanty at a presser lambasted the ruling party and recalled how BJD made tall promises like returning deposit amounts of scam-hit Chit fund depositors, bringing up holistic health centres in rural areas inhabited by a population of around 5000, mobile hospitals, blood banks in every district, the high-profile announcement of Rs 100 bonus per quintal on paddy MSP to farmers at Sohela and many more assurances. He alleged that on ground, however, the big promises fell flat.
"CM Naveen Patnaik has deceived the people of Odisha. One could coin this as the century's greatest 'hoodwink' as the 2014 BJD poll promises remain a distant dream till date," Mohanty said. He further questioned on why a mere 29 per cent of cultivable land in Odisha is irrigated till now.
Union Minister and BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan also said that the BJD supremo has failed to keep the promises made in the 2014 poll manifesto.
“From where the State government got money to build houses under the Biju Pucca Ghar Yojana? In the last three state budgets, a single penny was not allocated under the Biju Pucca Ghara Yojana. He (Naveen) is an expert in taking credit for everything. It’s a blatant lie that he has kept all the promises made in 2014 poll manifesto,” said Pradhan.
The Party was reacting to CM Naveen's statement post a Cabinet meet on Monday, where he had claimed of walking the talk and accomplishing a 100 per cent fulfilment of party's 2014 poll promises.
In his reaction, Congress leader Sarat Rout said, "Promises made in 2014 poll manifesto have not been fulfilled and government schemes have failed."
Meanwhile, BJD spokesperson Sasmit Patra said, "Dharmendra Pardhan is a habitual liar. Why he is shying away from uploading the list of five crore Ujjwala beneficiaries on the website?"
