Puri: The memorial of former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik has been evicted from the Swargadwar in Puri as a part of the development plan for the crematorium.
Speaking to the media persons about the demolition of the memorial, an official said, "Whatever structures including an office of the Puri Municipality were there inside the premises of Swargadwar have been removed as per the plan and direction of the Chief Minister. New structures will be constructed for the development of the Swargadwar."
On the other hand, the eviction drive for the security corridor project within 75 metre from the boundary wall of Jagannath temple continued today. A house adjacent to Bishnu Bhawan in front of the Western side of the Jagannath temple was demolished by the administration today.
Earlier on Wednesday some private houses and lodges were demolished.
