Berhampur varsity violence: 4 detained, cases filed against several others

Berhampur: Palpable tension continues to prevail in Berhampur University campus even as police have detained 4 persons and registered cases against ten others including former students' union president following yesterday's violence in Bhanja Vihar.

According to sources, police today conducted thorough inspection of all hostels and asked the authorities to ban entry of non-students into the varsity campus. Students have also been asked to mandatorily enter the varsity campus with identity cards and not allow outsiders into the varsity.

The Vice Chancellor of the varsity has warned of disciplinary action against students found supporting outsiders inside the campus.

Earlier yesterday, clashes erupted between two student groups leaving one person injured.
