Bhubaneswar: Pandemonium prevailed in the Odisha Assembly from the beginning of question hour today as opposition Congress created heavy noise protesting the speaker's refusal to allow a debate on the demand for special category status to the state. Unable to run the house, the Speaker was forced to adjourn the Assembly till 11.30am only after a transaction of two minutes.

The issue of Odisha's demand for special category state status was raised by Congress members as soon as the House assembled for the day. The Assembly also witnessed a similar condition on the previous day when the Opposition continued to create ruckus forcing Speaker to adjourn the House repeatedly.

The opposition members stormed into the well and strongly protested refusal by the speaker, Pradip Kumar Amat, to accept an adjournment notice on the special category state status by the Congress members.

Yesterday, while Congress members were staging demonstration in the well demanding acceptance of their notice for a debate on the same  issue, ruling BJD MLAs were on their feet condemning gang-rape of an Odia working woman in Delhi.
