B K Mishra sworn-in as new additional judge of HC

Cuttack: Bira Kishore Mishra was sworn-in as an additional judge of Orissa High Court here on Tuesday.

Chief Justice V Gopal Gowda administered the oath to the new judge at a simple ceremony inside the HC premises.

All the judges of the High Court, Lok Pal Justice P K Patra, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court P K Mishra, members of the bar and Cuttack District Collector K K Mohanty were present at the swearing-in ceremony.

After the swearing-in ceremony Justice Mishra shared the bench with senior judge Justice B P Das on his first day in the new assignment. With Justice Mishra joining the bench, the number of judges in the High Court increases to 17, including the Chief Justice.

Prior to his present assignment, Justice Mishra was officiating as Cuttack district sessions judge.

Born in Angul district in 1951, he began his career as a lawyer in Orissa High Court in 1976 after obtaining law degree from M S Law College here. He subsequently cleared Orissa Judicial Services (OJS) examinations in 1980 and since then was working as a judicial officer of the State in several capacities, including a brief stint in HC registry also.
