Bhubaneswar: In the wake of the alleged attack on a doctor at Titlagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in Bolangir district, Odisha Medical Services Association (OMSA) has demanded deployment of police personnel in all hospitals across the State.
"Starting from community health centres (CHCs) to district headquarters hospitals (DHHs), security forces should be deployed on the premises of all healthcare institutions. Adequate protection should be provided to on-duty doctors. This is the need of the hour as reports of frequent attacks on doctors by relatives of patients are coming to the fore," OMSA general secretary Punyasloka Das said.
According to sources, doctor Dillip Patnaik of Titlagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in Bolangir was reportedly attacked by the husband of a pregnant woman alleging medical negligence.
As police have arrested two persons in connection with the assault, the doctors' association has decided not to go on strike.
