Sambalpur: After the Board of Secondary Education's office in Sambalpur was allegedly set afire by miscreants yesterday, a police case has been registered in connection with the incident today.
The case has been registered at Dhanupali Police Station on the basis of a complaint filed by the Deputy Secretary of the BSE following which investigation has been handed over to the sub-divisional police officer. According to sources, an assessment of the loss will be done tomorrow by a team of officials from Cuttack.
On the other hand, Sambalpur collector Samarth Verma has assured that there will be no hassles in the conduct of examinations. The district collector said that proper steps will be taken so that students are not affected.
Several important documents, records of students as well as two vehicles belonging to the employees of the BSE were gutted in a fire yesterday. The BSE officials had informed that nearly eight to ten persons stormed into the office and asked why the office was opened. Later, they toppled the furniture and set fire to the office, informed BSE officials.
