Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Wednesday directed the State Principal Accountant General to audit accounts of 61 noted shrines across the State.
According to a notification issued by the Law Department, the State Principal Accountant General has been asked to audit accounts of 61 famous shrines across the State exercising the powers conferred under Sub-section (3) of Section (58) of Odisha Hindu Religious Endowment Act, 1951.
Accounts of the 61 shrines shall be audited by the auditors to be nominated by the State Principal Accountant General, said the notification.
The 61 shrines whose account will be audited are situated in different districts of the State like Khurda (7), Cuttack (6), Jagatsinghpur (2), Kendrapara (1), Jajpur (4), Bhadrak (3), Balasore (3), Angul (1), Sambalpur (1), Keonjhar (2), Sundergarh (3), Ganjam (3), Rayagada (1), Koraput (1), Bargarh (1), Puri (14) and eight Debottar institutions under direct control of Endowment Commission.
