Bhubaneswar: The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will provide medical equipment worth Rs 1 crore to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar in order to strengthen the treatment facilities at the State's premier hospital.
Director of Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA), Baruda Venkateswara Rao informed about the development saying that the AAI has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Bhubaneswar AIIMS on Thursday to take up the noble initiative for upgrading the healthcare system at the hospital under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity.
As per government sources, the AAI will provide six ICU ventilators, two portable ventilators and two defibrillators to the premier hospital in the Odisha capital.

The equipment will be supplied to the hospital in a phased manner within a period of one year, added reports.
“The AAI under its CSR activity will provide medical equipment worth Rs 1 crore to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar. The Director and Medical Superintendent are very proactive to improve the medical facilities and expand the infrastructure of the hospital,” stated Rao.

Earlier in October last year, the AAI under its CSR activities had signed an MoU with the BPIA and State’s Health Department for the infrastructural development of hospitals in Odisha. As per the agreement, the AAI had provided around Rs 12 crore for the construction of two modular Operation Theatres (OTs), one general OT at Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

The AAI had also provided funds to Niali Community Health Centre (CHC) for its development. Similarly, two ambulances were given to St John’s Ambulance Centre and funds sanctioned for Akshay Patra Foundation for preparation of mid-day meal.
