Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday handed over appointment letters to 496 newly-recruited teachers and eight principals of Odisha Adarsh Vidyalayas (model schools).

The appointment letters were distributed at a special function organised at Rabindra Mandap in Bhubaneswar. Speaking on the occasion, the CM advised the teachers to lay emphasis on quality education.

The CM also gave away awards to nine meritorious students of Adarsh Vidyalayas for their performance in the Class X examinations.

Speaking on the occasion, School and Mass Education minister Samir Ranjan Dash said, "Appointment letters have been given to 496 teachers and eight principals of Adarsh Vidyalayas today. A two-day orientation camp for principals will be organised from tomorrow."

"Adarsh Vidyalayas have been set up in 214 of the total 314 blocks in the State. We are hopeful that 100 more such schools will become operational in the remaining blocks by the next academic year," Dash added.
