4 of family die of asphyxiation in latrine tank

Berhampur: In a shocking incident, four members of a family died of asphyxiation while working in an under construction latrine tank at Samanatarapur village under Jarada police limits in Ganjam district today.

The deceased have been identified as Prashant Pradhan, Padmalochan Pradhan, Raju Pradhan and Santosh Pradhan of a family in the same village.

Prashant and Padmalochan, two brothers, first entered the tank and fainted inside the tank. Their uncle Santosh also faced a similar fate when he jumped into the tank to rescue the duo. Later, Raju also suffocated to death while trying to lift them out of the tank.

The villagers rescued all of them and rushed them to a local hospital where doctors declared them brought dead.

On being informed, Jarada police reached the spot and started investigation. Police seized the bodies and registered a case in this regard.
