Rayagada: As many as 30 labourers of Rayagada district of Odisha are stranded in Kerala.

According to sources, the labourers had gone to Allapuza district of Kerala in search of work. However, the labourers alleged that they had a squabble with some locals following which their clothes and other belongings were burnt.   After coming to know about the incident from a video released by the labourers, their families have now sought help from the district administration and the SP.

Dalimba Bag, relative of one of the stranded labourers said that the site manager has also warned them that if they did not continue with the work, they would not be given back their belongings.

Rayagada district labour officer, Pradip Kumar Bhoi said the administration has contacted the authorities of Allapuza district for safe repatriation of the stranded labourers.

Similarly, Odisha Labour minister Susant Singh said, "I have spoken with the Kerala Police DG and their Labour department and have instructed our authorities to send a team for inspection and ensure safe return of the labourers."
