Kandhamal: Two youths were killed after an 11 KV electric pole collapsed on them at a farmland near Kalingbadi village under Daringbadi police limits of the district today morning.
As per reports, the two deceased persons identified as Ranjan Pradhan and Litu Pradhan were on way to take a bath in the village pond and were crossing the farmland when an electric pole accidentally fell on them. Two more youths, Suraj and Jala who were present at the spot rushed to their help but unfortunately they too suffered an electric shock.
Ranjan and Litu died on the spot while the other two have been admitted to Darigbadi Hospital and are stated to be in critical condition, added reports.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and started investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, villagers have alleged that following incessant rain over the past few days, most of the electricity poles in the village were in a bad condition. They further alleged that despite repeated complaints to the concerned department, no steps were taken.
