Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police on Friday made it clear that unnecessary movement of people will be dealt with strictly in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar during the 14-day lockdown from tonight. Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi informed that entry and exit routes will be completely shut and people will not be allowed to move out unless there is some urgency or medical emergency.
“Highway traffic will not be stopped via Cuttack and Bhubaneswar to other States. However, nobody will be allowed to enter and exit the twin cities. People can dial 100 and passes will be issued only for emergency situations,” said Sudhanshu Sarangi.
Sending a stern message to people ahead of the 14-day lockdown beginning from tonight, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said that this lockdown will be stricter than previous ones.
Addressing a presser today, Sarangi clarified that stern action will be taken against people for any kind of violation of existing COVID-19 guidelines.
Sarangi further urged people not to step out of their homes unless there is some emergency. “We will be closely monitoring the situation as it is a phase where everybody needs to be extra cautious. We seek cooperation from public in this ongoing fight against COVID-19,”
As per Odisha government norms, only shops selling essential items including groceries, vegetables, milk will be allowed to remain open from 6 AM to 1 PM in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Allowed & Restricted Activities
Medicine Wholesalers and Retailers- No restriction and they can use previously issued ID cards or trading licence. The owners can issue letters to their staff
Groceries, LPG outlets, shops selling vegetables: No restrictions; WhatsApp group to coordinate with the stakeholders
Media Houses to limit their workforce during the 14-day lockdown. Along with ID cards, media houses to issue letter to their staff during the restriction period
No media passes will be issued and stern action will be taken against use of any fake passes
ATMs to function; banks to operate with 25% staff
All passes issued by Commissionerate Police only to travel from house to workplace. Any misuse to attract stern action
For marriage and funerals, people will have to take permissions from local authorities. No other congregations allowed
Dhabas along highways to open only for takeaways
Hotels and hospitality sectors for airlines and other emergency services personnel allowed
Hotels to serve guests and there will be no takeaway in restaurants
Home delivery by hotels, OMFED, Chilika fresh outlets allowed
