Bhubaneswar: At least 13 people were honored with ‘Rajadhani Gaurav’ for their achievement in various fields on the 65th foundation day of the State capital today. Various programmes were organized by the Bhubaneswar Foundation committee and district administration to mark the day at PMG square here.
 
Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat hoisted the flag near State Assembly to formally inaugurate the programmes organized by the district administration. Amat received the parade performed by various school children and different organizations. Ministers, MPs ,MLAs, Mayor and councilors with other top government officials attended the parade programme.
 
Started with a population of 50,000 both from village and some council, the small town has become a city today with a fastest growing rate. The city has reached the pinnacle in a long period of six decades achieving leading position in education, IT, culture and tradition. Various cultural programmes held every other day show the great tradition of the city. With improved railway connection, new swanky flight terminal in the city air port, twin city bus service including special bus for women and world class educational institutes, Bhubaneswar is regarded as one of the industrial and educational hub in the country.
 
The government, which aims at building the state capital a world rank city by 2030, has a proposal to add eight more wards with the city in future, report said.
