Konark: One person was killed while 20 others were injured after a passenger bus hit another bus near Konark Eco Retreat festival venue on Puri-Konark Marine Drive road in Puri district on Thursday.
According to reports, a passenger bus which was going to Puri hit another tourist bus from behind. The driver of the passenger bus suffered critical injuries and died later while undergoing treatment at the hospital. Moreover, as many as 20 people including a child and two women also sustained injuries in the mishap. Fire services personnel and Konark Police along with some locals rescued the injured persons and admitted them at Konark and Gop hospitals for treatment.
“The passenger bus came and hit our bus from behind. At least 20 tourists have sustained injuries,” said one of the tourists.
While police are yet to ascertain under what circumstances the bus accident took place, sources said that it could be on account of brake failure.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
