1 killed, 10 injured in fire cracker explosion

They were preparing the crackers for the Visuba Sankranti procession while one of the crackers went of suddenly injuring at least 11 persons. One, Sukant Behera, who sustained critical burn injuries, was shifted to SCB medical college and hospital in Cuttack where he succumbed to the injuries.

Others were undergoing treatment at a local hospital, sources said. Six of them are critical, doctors said.

An eyewitness said the explosion became furious when other crackers kept nearby caught fire. However, police are investigating the matter.
