Odisha Cabinet Nod Approval To Nine Proposals

The Odisha Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday gave its nod to nine different proposals.

One of the nine proposals given approval is to convert SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack into a world-class institute. The tender for the project has reportedly been awarded to L&T.

Similarly, a proposal for handing over ponds in panchayats to self-help groups has also been approved by the Cabinet.

This apart, some other proposals of the Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, Works, and other departments have also been approved.

2 Dead, 1 Injured In Road Mishap At Rayagada, Locals Block Road Demanding Compensation

An Anganwadi worker and her grandson were killed after an SUV crashed into their bike at Angad Colony under Rayagada’s Kashipur block on Tuesday morning.

The deceased Anganwadi worker has been identified as Mamata Nayak. Another grandson of her, who was on the same bike, was seriously injured in the accident.

As per reports a speeding Bolero coming from the direction of Kalahandi ran over the bike near Silagumma Padar killing the duo on spot.

Following the mishap, the locals, including the family members of Nayak, staged road blockage demanding compensation to the family of the deceased.

The injured has been rushed to the nearest Kashipur hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Gajapati Forester In Dock For Amassing Disproportionate Assets

The Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday carried out raids at multiple locations associated with the forester of Nuagada forest range in Gajapati district on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. 

The forester has been identified as Ganesh Pradhan.

As per preliminary reports, the vigilance officials conducted simultaneous raids at as many as four locations, including Pradhan’s residence and office at Nuagada, rented house at Gandhi Nagar of Paralakhemundi district, ancestral home at Harischandrapur in Gosani block of Gajapati district and his another house in Purunapatna of Andhra Pradesh.

Valuation of property traced during the raids is yet to be conducted.

Ganja Cultivation Worth Over Rs 18 Crore Destroyed In Odisha’s Gajapati

A joint team of Gajapati Police and Excise Department on Monday destroyed hemp plantation on around 91 acres of land near Pitakhari village under Mahendragada panchayat in R Udayagiri block of the district. The market value of the ganja has been estimated to be over Rs 18 crore.

Acting on a tip-off about the ganja cultivation in the village, a joint team of Excise and Police officials raided the area and burnt the cannabis plants in the presence of Tehsildar, SDPO and local police station inspector-in-charge (IIC).
