Banks In Odisha To Remain Closed On October 19, 20

All banks and banking institutions in Odisha will remain closed on October 19 and 20.

According to a notification issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management department, the banks in the State will remain closed on the above mentioned dates on the occasion of 'Eid-Milad' and Gajalaxmi Puja respectively. 

“Banks and other Banking Institutions etc., in Odisha will remain closed on 19th October, 2021 (Tuesday) and 20th October, 2021 (Wednesday) on the occasion of 'Eid-Milad' and 'Gajalaxmi PLO', respectively,” the notification read.

Odisha DGP Announces 'Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak' For 2282 Cops

As many as 2282 police officials in Odisha will be honoured with 'Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak' for their exemplary services and bravery.

The police officials who have worked for a minimum of 2 years in the regions hit by the Left-Wing Extremism situation will be conferred with the award. 

'Antrik Suraksha Seva Padak' is instituted by the Home Ministry to present medals to the police officials of different ranks who have been working in Maoist affected areas. 

The Director-General of Police (DGP) is authorised to present the medals to the working officials, the Home Ministry informed in a statement.

Passengers Can Travel With Monthly And Quarterly Season Tickets In 7 More Trains: ECoR

In a big relief to passengers, the East Coast Railway (ECoR) has restarted the Monthly Season Ticket (MST) and Quarterly Season Ticket (QST) services in seven more pairs of Passenger Special Trains.

As per an official notification, the MST and QST will be applicable for seven paring trains and the decision will benefit daily commuters.

The Monthly Season Ticket (MST) and Quarterly Season Ticket (QST) have resumed in following 7 pairs of trains for the convenience of daily commuters:

1. 08431/08432 Puri-Cuttack-Puri Special.

2. 08412/08411 Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak-Bhubaneswar Special.

IAS Officer RK Sharma Retains Charge As Odisha’s ACS Health

Senior IAS officer Raj Kumar Sharma will continue to head the Health Department of Odisha. The order to this effect was issued by the GA and PG Department which stated that Sharma will retain the charge of Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department in addition to his original posting. Sharma, a 1987 batch IAS officer, is presently posted as the Commissioner, Agriculture Production of Odisha. He was roped in hold charge of the Health department in place of senior IAS officer Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra after the latter went on leave for 28 days, from September 14 to October 11, on personal grounds. In a surprising move, Mohapatra was appointed as the Chairman of the Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC) two days ago. The development has sparked various speculations over the race to head the bureaucracy in place of Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra who is due to retire from service on February 28, 2022.

Former minister Anjali Behera joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a programme held at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar on Monday. Congress leader from Parjang in Dhenkanal district, Santosh Rout and several other leaders from Angul district also joined the saffron party during the programme today. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior leaders were present on the occasion. Slum Dwellers Burn Tyres, Block Road During Eviction Drive In Bhubaneswar 

Tension ran high at Shyampur slums on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Monday during an eviction drive launched by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) to clear illegal encroachments.
