Youth Injured In Group Attack Near Kalinga Stadium In Bhubaneswar

In yet another incident that has raised serious concerns over the law and situation in the State Capital city of Bhubaneswar, as many as 10 unidentified armed miscreants attacked a bike-borne youth near the Kalinga Stadium square on Monday evening, leaving him seriously injured.

As per reports, the victim suffered multiple injuries in the attack and has been rushed to the Capital Hospital. 

Sources identified the victim as Bubul Samantaray, a resident of Behera Sahi in Nayapalli. Sources said that the miscreants attacked the victim with swords and other sharp weapons. The reason behind the attack and the identity of the attackers are yet to be ascertained.

Father-Daughter Duo Killed In Bee Attack In Odisha's Sundergarh

A 65-year-old man and his 42-year-old daughter in Panposh village under Rajgangpur block of Sundargarh district died while undergoing treatment today after they were attacked by a swarm of bees on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Guru Banchhor (65) and his daughter Mina Garadeia(25).

As per reports, the tragic incident took place yesterday when the father-daughter duo had gone to the forest to collect firewood. 

They were rescued in a critical condition and were rushed to the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) for treatment where they succumbed to their injuries today.

Man Arrested For Trying To Sell Elephant Tusks For Rs 15 Lakh

A special squad of Deogarh police on Monday arrested a man on charges of trying to sell two elephant tusks for Rs 15 lakh. Two elephant teeth (trunk) weighing 2.322 kg were seized from the accused identified as Sunil Podh, a resident of Ranikhinda village under Sasan police limits of Sambalpur district. According to sources, the special squad of Deogarh police led by sub-inspector B Mahji raided an area in Prabhasuni village at around 5.30 am today following information about a deal involving elephant tusks by the accused. Upon noticing the police team, the accused tried to escape, but was nabbed. The police team seized a plastic bag containing the two elephant teeth from his possession. During questioning, he admitted that he struck a deal to sell the elephant teeth for Rs15 lakh. The tusks were seized in the presence of witnesses, the police said.
