Water Pipeline Burst Floods Cuttack For Second Time In A Week

It was not an usual monsoon downpour that often drowns Cuttack, but surprisingly for the second time in a week, Odisha's Silver City went for a deluge in the most dramatic way. 

Life flew with its usual vigour in the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest corners of the city on Sunday when suddenly a pipeline exploded spewing thousands of gallons of water several feet into the air and left the crowd and other commuters scurry for safety.
Earlier on October 7, a water pipeline had exploded near Purighat in the city triggering panic among the locals. 

The burst was so powerful that water punched a hole through the road and erupted like a volcano. The pipeline burst flooded the streets causing distress among people residing in the area.

16 Killed In Plane Crash In Russia

Sixteen people were killed and six others injured after an L-410 aircraft crashed in Russia's Tatarstan on Sunday, TASS news agency reported.

Earlier, reports said that seven were wounded and there were 23 people on board.

The plane carrying two crew members and 20 parachutists crashed immediately after takeoff from a local airport. Both pilots were killed and the survived have been hospitalised in serious condition, Xinhua reported.

The L-410 is a twin-engine light aircraft that can carry up to 19 passengers. It has been in operation since 1987.

Overloading, technical malfunction or crew errors could be the cause of the tragedy, TASS said.
