It was not an usual monsoon downpour that often drowns Cuttack, but surprisingly for the second time in a week, Odisha's Silver City went for a deluge in the most dramatic way.
Life flew with its usual vigour in the hustle and bustle of one of the busiest corners of the city on Sunday when suddenly a pipeline exploded spewing thousands of gallons of water several feet into the air and left the crowd and other commuters scurry for safety.
Earlier on October 7, a water pipeline had exploded near Purighat in the city triggering panic among the locals.
The burst was so powerful that water punched a hole through the road and erupted like a volcano. The pipeline burst flooded the streets causing distress among people residing in the area.
DCP Bhubaneswar, Umashankar Dash said that the deceased’s last location was traced near Infocity police limits. “The youth had made a call to his family members and informed that he was with two youths. Later, the family members claimed to have picked up a ransom call.” More
