Cyclone Gulab: BMC Cancels COVID Vaccination For Two Days

The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Saturday announced cancellation of Covid-19 vaccination drive under its jurisdiction for two days in view of the cyclone storm 'Gulab'. "In view of the warning on cyclonic storm 'Gulab', the Covid-19 vaccination drive in Bhubaneswar will remain suspended tomorrow (Sept 26) and day after tomorrow (Sept 27)," BMC said in a statement.

Two Minor Siblings Rescued From Baramunda Bus Stand In Bhubaneswar

Two minor siblings, who were spotted by passersby crying after being abandoned by their father at Baramunda Bus Stand in Bhubaneswar, were rescued by the Bharatpur police on Saturday.


The girl, aged around eight years, and her five-year-old brother were spotted by some passengers who informed the police about the abandoned children.


The police later handed over the children to the Child Welfare Committee in Bhubaneswar. Both the children are now lodged at the VJSS Open Children Shelter.


During counseling, the children revealed that they belong to Kodala village in Ganjam district. They had lost their mother four years back. Their father had brought them to Bhubaneswar to visit one of their relatives. However, he allegedly made them wait at the bus stand and went away under the pretext of some urgent work. But he never came back.
