Maoists Gun Down Supervisor, Torch 4 Vehicles In Chhattisgarh

After a brief lull, Maoist violence has returned in Chhattisgarh. The extremists reportedly shot dead a supervisor of a private road construction company in Modena village in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh. 

As per reports, opposing the road construction works the extremists first killed the supervisor engaged in the work. Later, they torched several vehicles engaged in the road construction works which included a tipper truck, two tractors and a two-wheeler.

The left-wing extremists have further warned to stop the road construction works and have put up threatening posters. The group included hundreds of armed male and female ultras.

Dog Killer Arrested In Odisha, Forwarded To Court

A tiffin stall owner, who allegedly poisoned to death at least 20 stray dogs at Shankarpur village under Choudwar block in Cuttack district, has been arrested, police said on Thursday.
As per reports, the accused has been charged under Sections 402, 294, 429 and 506 for killing the innocent animals and forwarded to court today.
According to sources, local residents grew suspicious on Wednesday after at least 20 stray dogs died in a span of three days. Later, they found that the tiffin stall owner at the village did the cruel act in order to get rid of the menace of stray dogs.
When confronted by the locals, he allegedly justified his act and admitted that he killed four stray dogs who had been repeatedly defecating near the clay oven (tandoor) of his shop. He said he killed the dogs by feeding them gulgula (fried doughnut) laced with pesticide.
An FIR was lodged with Choudwar police against the stall owner on the same day. The locals demanded stringent punishment against him.

Maoist Camp Busted In Odisha, Ammunitions Seized

Security personnel have busted a Maoist camp and seized arms, ammunition and other Maoist articles during an operation conducted in Malkangiri district of Odisha, police said on Thursday.

"On September 20, we got reliable information about the camping of a Naxal team at hilly areas of Kirmiti village. With this input, a joint operation by the Special Operation Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Odisha Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) was launched in the area," said Malkangiri SP Prahlad Meena.

During afternoon hours of September 21, an exchange of fire took place near Kirmiti village between security forces & armed cadre of Maoists, he said.

"Following the exchange of fire, when our team was conducting a search operation, a large quantity of Maoist materials were seized," the SP informed.

Four guns, one SLR empty case, Maoist literature, medicines, umbrellas, uniforms and posters were seized during the operation, he said. Searching and combing operations have been intensified in that area, he added.
