2 Minor Siblings Swept Away By River In Puri

Two minor siblings were killed after drowning at Luna river in Puri district today. The minors aged 7 years and 3 years old were brothers to each other and sons of one Sadasiba Pradhan of Nagana village under Dhanakera panchayat in Delang area. Sources said the duo was bathing at the nearby river ghat when both of them were reportedly swept away by the strong river current.

Three Persons Swept Away By Floods Near Baitarini Barrage; 1 Rescued, Two Missing

Three persons were swept away by the rising floodwater at the Baitarini Barrage near Anandpur in Kendujhar district on Friday morning.

As per reports, while fire brigade personnel managed to rescue one of them, the rest two are still missing.  

Sources said that the trio who are residents of a village near Anandpur had gone to collect firewood near Baitarani Barrage when the incident occurred. Due to the heavy downpour, the water level at the barrage had risen, creating a flood-like situation.

While collecting firewood from the banks, the trio slipped and fell into the waters. They were swept away in no time due to the strong currents.

The fire brigade launched a search and rescue operation after being informed. Hours later, they managed to rescue one of them while there was no trace of the other two. The searches are on.
