Odisha Shocker: Girl Hangs Self After Axing Sister To Death

A 17-year-old girl from Nayakote area in Keonjhar took her own life after hacking her younger sister to death with an axe leaving everyone shocked in the region.

Khiramani, daughter of Bhikari Dehury of Bhuansahi village reportedly killed her sister Rukmini, aged 14 years, following quarrel over a petty issue. She is said to have hanged herself from the fan in the house after locking both of them inside the room.

As per reports, Bhikari and his wife found the door of the house locked after returning from farming work in the evening today. They broke open the door and spotted the younger daughter lying in a pool of blood, her head severed from the body.

Police have launched a probe into the case.

Odisha Reports 1243 New COVID-19 Positive Cases, 69 Deaths

Odisha on Sunday reported 1243 new positive cases, taking the total active cases in the State to 12129. A total of 718 were reported from quarantine centres while 525 positives are local contact cases. The highest 399 cases were detected in Khordha district alone.

On the other hand, the State Health department on Sunday informed death of 69 more COVID-19 patients with the maximum casualties (21) from Khordha district followed by Cuttack (13) & Sambalpur (8).
