Odisha Logs 1,437 New COVID-19 Cases, 64 Fresh Fatalities

Odisha on Sunday reported 1,437 fresh Covid-19 cases, pushing the tally to 9,78,705, while the death toll mounted to 5,966 with 64 more fatalities, informed the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department.

With this, the State now has 15,858 active cases, and as many as 9,56,828 patients, including 1,373 have recovered from the disease so far, added the H&FW Department.

Of the new cases, 832 were reported from quarantine centres and the rest 605 are local contact cases. Khordha district, which comprises the state capital Bhubaneswar, reported the highest number of fresh cases at 409, followed by Cuttack (190) and Puri (146), as per the data shared by Information and Public Relations (I&PR) department. 

In terms of death, eight fatalities each were reported from Khordha, Cuttack and Bhadrak districts while seven each deaths in Puri and Sundargarh, four in Kendrapara and three each in Dhenkanal and Nayagarh. Two deaths each were reported from Angul, Balasore, Jharsuguda, Mayurbhanj and Bargarh districts while one each death from Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kandhamal, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts.

Odisha has so far conducted 1,60,22,677 crore sample tests for COVID-19, including 72,233 on Saturday, and the cumulative positivity rate stands at 2.18 percent.
