An incident of firing was reported on Saturday night at a dhaba (roadside eatery) located at Duajhar village in Khariar tehsil of Nuapada district. As per the preliminary reports, the woman owner of the dhaba was critically injured in the firing. She was admitted to a nearby hospital. While the reason behind the firing was not ascertained immediately, a police team launched a probe into the matter.
Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, the private secretary to an Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) member was on Saturday sent to Jharpada jail after a special vigilance court rejected his bail application.
