Woman Critically Injured In Firing In Nuapada, Hospitalised

An incident of firing was reported on Saturday night at a dhaba (roadside eatery) located at Duajhar village in Khariar tehsil of Nuapada district. As per the preliminary reports, the woman owner of the dhaba was critically injured in the firing. She was admitted to a nearby hospital. While the reason behind the firing was not ascertained immediately, a police team launched a probe into the matter.

Tainted Private Secretary Of OSSC Member Sent To Jail

Biranchi Narayan Sahoo, the private secretary to an Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) member was on Saturday sent to Jharpada jail after a special vigilance court rejected his bail application. Sahoo was arrested by the State vigilance for allegedly accumulating disproportionate assets. He was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs 3.51 crore which constitutes 268% of his known sources of income.
