The Odisha government has sanctioned ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh each for the families of 17 working journalists of the State who died of Covid-19. The Information and Public Relations Department has sanctioned a sum of Rs 2.55 crore from the Journalist Welfare Fund following the approval of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The list of journalists who have been sanctioned ex-gratia include seven from Ganjam, four from Bhubaneswar, three from Bolangir, two from Jajpur and one from Kalahandi. The financial assistance will be disbursed to the next of kin of the deceased journalists.
